After studying classical music in Japan, he studied composition and arranging in the UK. He then studied tango technique in Argentina with Fernando Suárez Paz, who played violin in the Astor Piazzolla Quintet.
In recent years he has been active as a tango player and frequently performs in the field of free improvisation. The music of the Naoki Kita Quartet, which incorporates elements of improvisation and contemporary music into tango, is highly regarded for its originality and spirituality.
In Europe, he has participated in improvisation concerts and dance productions. He has also performed with traditional musicians from Japan and Korea.
He has been regarded as one of the most cutting-edge violinists in Japan.
